Rang Havelii is a boutique heritage stay located steps away from the majestic City Palace, Udaipur in the heart of Udaipur. Once a neglected structure, the property was thoughtfully restored with a clear vision, to celebrate Rajasthan’s rich art and culture. Over eighteen months, every detail was reimagined with care and craftsmanship. The haveli now features vibrant, kaleidoscopic rooms inspired by traditional Rajasthani aesthetics. Handcrafted elements, local artistry, and cultural nuances define the space. Each corner reflects warmth, authenticity, and heritage. Rang Havelii is designed to offer more than accommodation, it offers an experience. It stands today as a colourful tribute to the spirit of Udaipur.
Our Story
Unique art & craftsmanship
At Rang Havelii, every bedroom is imagined as a tribute to Rajasthan’s great cultural cities. The architecture, colours, textures, and décor come together to reflect a singular artistic vision. Each of the eight rooms is thoughtfully designed around a distinct Rajasthani art form and theme, creating spaces that are both immersive and meaningful. From the deep royal blue room inspired by Jodhpur, adorned with intricate Thikri (glass inlay) work handcrafted by master artisans over four months, to the serene green Pichwai room echoing Nathdwara’s devotional storytelling of Krishna, every corner tells its own story.
Regional art forms such as Phad, Molela, and Kawad are seamlessly woven into the Havelii’s design narrative. The furniture, chairs, almirahs, and side tables, has been custom-crafted to harmonise with each room’s character. Even the bathroom tiles and doors are precisely colour-coordinated, with months spent sourcing the perfect shades, including multiple visits to tile workshops in Morbi, Gujarat. This was never merely a restoration project. It was a labour of love, an immersive celebration of Rajasthan’s artistic soul, brought to life through patience, passion, and uncompromising attention to detail.

In the Heart of the city:
Perched near the iconic City Palace, Udaipur, Rang Havelii rises above the old city with a rooftop terrace that captures Udaipur in all its glory. On one side, the grandeur of the palace; on the other, the serene Karni Mata Temple, Udaipur hills; and all around, the timeless city skyline. The terrace features a plunge pool, sun loungers, and custom bajot-style floor seating, perfect for intimate Rajasthani thali dinners under the stars. Evenings can unfold with the soulful notes of the Sarangi or the vibrant whirl of Kalbelia dancers, creating moments that feel both regal and deeply rooted.
Designed by heart, Not Blueprint:
Rang Havelii was not shaped by architectural firms or styled by interior designers. It was envisioned and brought to life entirely by its homeowners, proud Rajasthanis who poured their love for the land into every corner. Apart from technical guidance for the pool and staircase, every colour, motif, tile, and piece of furniture was personally chosen. The intention was never to create just another boutique stay, but to craft a heartfelt homage to Rajasthan’s living heritage.
Preserving What Time Forgets:
Several art forms showcased within these walls, from Kavad storytelling boxes to Phad scrolls, are slowly fading from mainstream memory. With purpose and passion, Rashmi collaborated with national-award-winning artisans and sourced rare, limited-edition works to give these traditions renewed space and relevance. The hope is simple yet profound: that every guest leaves not only rested, but enriched, carrying with them stories, craftsmanship, and a deeper connection to Rajasthan’s artistic soul.

It’s a very beautifully made property. Attention to detailing in Architecture. Super aesthetic. We stayed in the indigo colour room. It was worth every penny. Location is also good it’s inside the main area still silent and chaos free. Food is also another highlight. Owner is very friendly and humble. They gave a complimentary jam roll. Must try if you are in Udaipur. Will visit again undoubtedly.
We stayed here for 4 night with 2 kids, the rooms are very spacious and very tidy. Ankit and team provided excellent service and DK served us amazing, delicious local delicacies (laal maas and dungar maas). The location is accessible to all major points within 15 minutes of auto ride with lake pichola being walking distance. We were very happy with the stay and service.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food is a must-try. Ankit and his team took great care of us, and Chef DK did a fantastic job serving delicious dishes throughout our stay.
